The John Crane Type 586 replacement cartridge mechanical seal supplied by Hong Teng is intended for maintenance and replacement projects where the existing sealing arrangement corresponds to a Type 586 cartridge seal configuration.
The original Type 586 design is associated with demanding process applications, particularly flue gas desulphurization (FGD) systems where the mechanical seal may be exposed to thick, corrosive and erosive slurry. The original design uses a stationary cartridge arrangement with protected springs to reduce the risk of solids accumulating around the spring system.
Because slurry-service cartridge seals can differ in shaft size, gland dimensions, sleeve geometry, face materials and elastomer configuration, the reference number alone should not be used as the only confirmation before ordering a replacement.
For replacement identification, please send clear photographs of the complete old cartridge seal together with the shaft or sleeve diameter, gland dimensions, overall length, installation drawing if available, pumped medium and operating conditions.
