EBARA Pump Families & Seal Configurations

EBARA manufactures pump families for vertical multistage, sewage, wastewater, drainage, water supply and industrial applications. Mechanical seal construction can range from standard component seals to double cartridge arrangements, so the pump family and existing sealing system should always be identified together.

SUBMERSIBLE SEWAGE

EBARA DSC Series

EBARA DSC pumps are large submersible mixed-flow pumps designed for sewage, wastewater, grey water, rainwater and related solids-handling applications. The DSC design uses a double mechanical seal arranged as a cartridge assembly to simplify replacement and maintenance.

VERTICAL MULTISTAGE

EBARA EVMS Vertical Multistage Pumps

EVMS is EBARA's in-line vertical multistage pump family for pressure boosting, water treatment, reverse osmosis, boiler feed and other building-service or industrial water applications. The official EVMS design uses a cartridge-type mechanical seal for easier maintenance.

Current Hong Teng vertical-pump references include UNE5 16 mm and UNE 25 mm. Confirm compatibility separately; do not assume every EVMS pump uses a UNE seal.
WASTEWATER & DRAINAGE

EBARA Submersible Pump Applications

EBARA manufactures multiple submersible pump families for sewage, drainage and wastewater service. Depending on the pump construction, these applications may use component or double mechanical sealing arrangements. Identification should therefore begin with the complete pump model and installation position.

WATER & OTHER APPLICATIONS

Selected EBARA Vertical & Water Pumps

Our current replacement range also contains component mechanical seals used for selected EBARA vertical, water and cooling-pump applications. Because these references are not universal across the EBARA range, the old seal and physical dimensions should be checked before final selection.

Why the Exact EBARA Pump Model Matters

EBARA pumps range from compact water pumps to large submersible sewage equipment. Two seals with a similar shaft diameter can use completely different stationary seats, working lengths, seal arrangements or cartridge assemblies. Always identify the complete pump model and compare the existing mechanical seal before selecting a replacement.

How to Identify the Correct EBARA Mechanical Seal

The safest way to identify an EBARA replacement mechanical seal is to combine the complete pump model with the existing seal construction, installation position, measured dimensions and operating conditions. Do not select a seal only from its appearance.

STEP 01

Record the Complete EBARA Pump Model

Photograph the pump nameplate and record the complete model designation, serial information and any suffixes. A general description such as “EBARA sewage pump” is not precise enough for reliable seal identification.

STEP 02

Identify the Seal Construction & Position

Determine whether the removed unit is a component seal, cartridge seal or part of a double mechanical seal arrangement. For submersible pumps, also record the installation position and keep all removed components together.

STEP 03

Measure the Existing Mechanical Seal

Measure the shaft or sleeve diameter, rotating assembly, stationary seat, free length and working length. For cartridge seals, also record the sleeve, gland, bolt pattern and complete overall dimensions.

STEP 04

Confirm Materials & Pump Service

Record the pumped liquid, solids content, temperature and existing seal-face and elastomer materials. Wastewater service can require a different material configuration from clean-water or vertical multistage pump applications.

Mechanical Seal Materials for EBARA Pumps

Mechanical seal materials should be selected according to the EBARA pump family, pumped medium, solids content, temperature and operating conditions. A material combination suitable for clean-water service may not be suitable for sewage or abrasive wastewater.

CLEAN WATER & MULTISTAGE

Silicon Carbide / Carbon

Silicon carbide paired with carbon provides a practical combination for many clean-water, pressure-boosting and multistage applications when the operating conditions and original seal specification are compatible.

Official EBARA EVMS reference: SiC / Carbon with EPDM is used in standard configurations.
WASTEWATER & WEAR RESISTANCE

Silicon Carbide / Silicon Carbide

Hard silicon-carbide face combinations can be considered for wastewater, sewage and more abrasive pumping conditions where greater wear resistance is required. Final selection still depends on the actual liquid and seal design.

Check solids, lubrication conditions and the original material specification before upgrading.
SECONDARY SEALS

EPDM, NBR & FKM Options

Secondary sealing materials should be selected according to the liquid and temperature. EPDM is commonly associated with water service, while NBR and FKM options are used in selected replacement configurations depending on the application.

Do not identify an elastomer only by its colour or appearance.

Match the Material to the EBARA Pump Service

Dimensional compatibility does not guarantee material compatibility. Before selecting the final replacement, compare the original mechanical seal materials with the pumped medium, temperature, solids, operating pressure and expected lubrication conditions.

  • Pumped liquid
  • Solids and abrasiveness
  • Operating temperature

Frequently Asked Questions About EBARA Mechanical Seals

Find answers to common questions about identifying and replacing mechanical seals for EBARA pumps.

How do I identify the correct mechanical seal for an EBARA pump?

Start with the complete EBARA pump model and pump nameplate. Then identify whether the existing seal is a component, cartridge or double mechanical seal, and measure the shaft diameter, stationary seat and working length. For cartridge seals, also record the gland, sleeve and mounting dimensions.

What type of mechanical seal is used in an EBARA DSC pump?

EBARA's DSC pump design uses a double mechanical seal and a cartridge-type arrangement for easier replacement. Our current aftermarket DSC replacement range includes selected 63 mm and 100 mm cartridge double mechanical seals. Final compatibility should still be confirmed from the complete pump model.

What type of mechanical seal is used in EBARA EVMS pumps?

EBARA EVMS vertical multistage pumps use a cartridge-type mechanical seal designed to simplify maintenance. The exact seal configuration and materials depend on the EVMS model and operating requirements, so the complete pump information should be checked before replacement.

Are the 560DF, 560DE and EA560D EBARA seals interchangeable?

They should not be treated as automatically interchangeable. Similar-looking submersible pump seals can use different dimensions, stationary seats or installation arrangements. Compare the complete old seal, shaft size and installation dimensions before selecting one reference in place of another.

Can you identify an EBARA mechanical seal from photos and dimensions?

In many cases, yes. Send the EBARA pump nameplate, complete old seal photos, separate photographs of the rotating and stationary components, shaft diameter, stationary-seat dimensions, working length and required quantity for comparison.

Can I replace an EBARA seal only by matching the shaft diameter?

No. Two mechanical seals can share the same shaft diameter while using different stationary-seat profiles, face dimensions, working lengths, material combinations or mounting arrangements. Shaft diameter should only be used as one part of the identification process.

Are these original EBARA mechanical seals?

No. The products shown on this page are aftermarket replacement mechanical seals independently supplied by Hong Teng. EBARA, pump-series names and reference numbers are used only to identify compatible applications.
